Today was day one of of (if the largest) church planting conferences on all North America. About 3,000 planting pastors and leaders are expected to be at this years conference which is held at First Baptist of Orlando.
Today I tried to sit on a session that supposed to focus on leadership development. Man was I disappointed.
So I jumped to several other break out sessions and finally ended up at "Creating a Disciple Making Movement" with Jim Putman.
Rachel was sitting in on that one and was excited by how Jim was presenting and the information, ideas and concepts being shared. I was excited to hear how much of his presentation links up with what we are already doing at Journey. And how there were several solid take away concepts that may helps us improve our focus on "making fully devoted followers of Jesus".
I had the change to talk briefly with Mark Batterson about their coffee shop and our possible site for our outreach/ coffee shop.
Ebenezer is a great place and Washington and I look forward to learning more from Mark and his team in the coming weeks.
Take away from the day... "There are not growth barriers.... but really only leadership barriers." - Jim Putman

Day two of Expoential '09 was packed full of practical, transferable information along with several free books and many more bag stuffers. (I even had to do the Chicken Dance to receieve one new LIFE Group package set for free).
Speakers today:
Larry Osbourne - Good stuff on leadership development.
Erwin McManus - on "the art of movement" (yeah got Rachel, Bill and I all jack up in information and inspiration)
Dave Ferguson kicked off my week long track on ""Reproducing Churches"
Alan Hirsch topped off the track late in the day. Love his stuff.
Then social time kicked in with the Converge Worldwoide group and finally dinner at BJ's.
35 planters and top leaders of our Minnesota State wide movement gathered for dinner (Thanks Joel and Dan)
Take away for the day...
"Realize that there are three spaces as we move with people on their spiritual journey.
"My Space" - where we are most comfortable
"Market Space" - where life happens
"Invited Space" - where others live, work and they invite you in because of relationship and trust.
Know at what place you are at when serving people and don't rush or force someone into a space they don't want to go to.
Wednesday the mind is begining to fill up.
Worship today was truely wonderful to be apart of.
I was most surprised by Greg Groeschel. He spoke being a part of a movement and he came with such passion that had not heard from him on LIFECHURCHTV.com He spoke of the three lines that we cross at times in faith. Great illustration and points.
Biggest impact and take away came from Marc Choi sharing about the church in Korea.
29% Christian in Korea
#2 sending country of missionaries (#1 USA)
The focus on making disciples, not a church was powerful. From the minute someone believes and is baptized to when the actually help disciple another. Wow!
One final take away from Bob Roberts...(More passion again)... "Never, Never, Never vilify another religion."
Looking forward to big final day.
Bring on Day 3
Francis Chan was the perfect guy to end the conference! All the way home, all through today I have tried to finish preparing for Sunday morning... but I find myself wondering. I am processing what I have heard, learned and experienced.
Overload.
Thanks Holy Spirt for a awesome challenge at the end, given through your servant Francis Chan. May I rise to the challenge, bring clarity to it and follow you and you alone.
