This week the question of really seeing God vs "seeing what you want to believe" has come up several times.
I agree that often we have the ability to see what we want to see in things. Believe because we want to believe in good not evil and so forth. So how we know really know that we are seeing God move and work today verse wishful thinking?
I personally listen to life stories.
How is pray answered.
How has a life been unexpectedly touched, blessed, even rescued for certain destruction.
Yes, I choose to believe in God and his movement in my life and the lives of others.
But as I choose to believe, I actually see more and more that confirms my choice to believe.
I know that there are many, that of a miracle of biblical proportions happened today they would still deny, write if off and not choose to believe. It happen during all of Jesus ministry and it will happen until the end of time.
I'm curious how do others "see God" and know that he is still moving among us?
How much does simple faith verse "having to see it to believe it" work in your life.
I do know the more that I pray, seek God, ask to see His movement.... the more clearly I see it.
It's like the wind... you can't see it, but you do see the effects of the wind.

How do I see God working in my life and todays world? I think it helps to be on the same page as God. That is, to be walking in step with what He has taught us.
Yet, I concur with the fact that a person can see what they want to see. They can use Scripture to convince themselves that something is accurate. I speak from experience.
I will quote the Apostle Paul who wrote in Philippians 3:8-9a, YES, EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORTHLESS WHEN COMPARED WITH THE PRICELESS GAIN OF KNOWING JESUS CHRIST MY LORD. I HAVE DISCARDED EVERYTHING ELSE, COUNTING IT ALL AS GARBAGE, SO THAT I MAY HAVE CHRIST AND BECOME ONE WITH HIM.
This text may seem to have no relevance to the question asked, yet I will say that it matters little about if/how/when/why/what God is doing at present. My faith allows that God is active and working and it matters little if I can see or understand. I know.
So how can I convince someone else? It isn't my job to convince anyone. That is the Holy Spirits work. My job is to live out my faith and others will see the fruit and honor the Lord whom I serve.
